I graduated in 2008 from St. Mary's University Twin Cities campus. I did my practicum at Park House which was a day treatment center for people with HIV/AIDS and a mental illness.
For the last 12 years I have been working with children, adolescents, and their parents, in addition to one on one counseling with adults. I also supervised a team of mental health practitioners in the Children's Therapeutic Social Services program. I continue to provide Board Approved supervision to practitioners working toward LPC/LPCC licensure. My approach with young people is to join them in their world, learn about them, and how they perceive their lives. I then use a variety of games and activities to empower them to successfully navigate their way through life. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and I have Suicide Prevention Training.
I have shared my counseling skills with local elementary schools, Crisis Connection, Boy Scouts of America, and the Ngao Mentor Life Society in Nairobi, Kenya where I have done presentations and individual counseling. Currently, I volunteer at the Mille Lacs Hospital Hospice program.
After a presentation on depression and suicide at Blessings Beauty School in Nairobi, Kenya.
